Linings for Uniforms

Lining is the part of a uniform nobody photographs and everybody notices when it fails. It has to slide over a shirt sleeve, take the same laundering as the shell, and not be the reason a blazer comes back. On a school or corporate blazer program it is ordered alongside the shell cloth, in matching volume.

Ours is poly-viscose 70/30 in two builds: a 215 GSM stripe, the traditional lining look for uniform tailoring, and a heavier 242 GSM with a smoother, more premium drape where the blazer is the flagship garment of the program.

Specify the lining with the shell, not after it. The two cloths take the same laundering and the same service life, so a lining chosen on price alone becomes the failure point of an otherwise sound blazer: seams slip, the slide goes sticky, and the garment comes back while the shell still has years in it. Ordering shell and lining together on one delivery also keeps the volumes matched, so a program is never tailoring blazers it cannot line.

Shade logic applies inside the jacket too. A lining is usually matched or deliberately contrasted against the shell, and either way it is approved against the same held reference as the rest of the program, so a blazer relined mid-life or a top-up order tailored a year later reads the same inside as the originals.
